Are you the best athlete on the block—or at least in your office? Think you have what it takes to tackle the Charlotte Heptathlon?
The Charlotte Heptathlon is a new event organized by Charlotte’s financial services industry. Best of all, proceeds benefit The Children’s Scholarship Fund of Charlotte, which provides educational choices via tuition assistance to low-income families in Mecklenburg County.
If you need any additional motivation, Dan O’Brien, the Decathlon Gold Medalist in the 1996 Olympic Games, will be a special celebrity competitor.
The Charlotte Heptathlon was founded by Frontier Capital Managing Partner Andrew Lindner and Trey Tune, a Brown Advisory senior executive. The event is modeled after the Wall Street Decathlon, which raises several million dollars each year for various charities.
Womble Carlyle is a sponsor of the Charlotte Heptathlon, as are many of the firm’s Charlotte area financial services industry clients. The event takes place May 21st at the Queens University Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park.
Athletes will compete in the following seven events:
- 40-yard dash;
- Dips;
- Pull-ups;
- Vertical leap;
- 30-yard shuttle;
- Row; and
- One-mile run.
