VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.—Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Beth Tyner Jones will lead two sessions at the Council of Independent Colleges 2019 Workshop for Department and Division Chairs .

Jones will lead sessions on “Hiring Right: Effective Faculty Searches” and “The Science (and Art) of Faculty Evaluations”.

The workshop is scheduled for April 11-13 in Virginia Beach. This is one of four such workshops being conducted around the nation by CIC.

Department and division chairs are the bridges between the members of their department or division and senior administrators. The 2019 Workshops for Department and Division Chairs will focus on strategies and practical approaches to develop leadership skills and institution-wide vision—for chairs and faculty peers with whom they work on campus.

The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) is an association of nonprofit independent colleges and universities that has worked since 1956 to support college and university leadership; advance institutional excellence; and enhance public understanding of private higher education’s contributions to society. The CIC includes more than 700 colleges, universities and organizations.

Beth Tyner Jones has nearly three decades of experience counseling employers on all facets of employment law matters. She leads the firm’s US-based Labor & Employment Team, which represents employers in labor and employment litigation as well as counsels employers proactively to manage risk and to help prevent such disputes. She also is a leader of the firm’s Education and School Law Team and serves on Womble Bond Dickinson’s Firm Management Committee. Jones is the Managing Partner of the firm’s Raleigh and Research Triangle Park offices.
