TYSONS CORNER, VA.—Womble Bond Dickinson’s Dean Rutley was a speaker at the GovCon Summit 2017, one of the biggest annual events for government contracting industry professionals.

Rutley took part in a panel discussion titled, “M&A + Capital Markets.” Joining Rutley in the discussion were Joe Fluet CEO of MAG Aerospace; Scott Goss, CEO of Preferred Systems Solutions; Michael H. Lustbader, Managing Partner at Arlington Capital Partners; and Peter M. Schulte, Managing Partner of CM Equity Partners. 

In the discussion, Rutley emphasized the importance of due diligence, saying, “Purchase agreements are actually risk allocation documents; as such, proper due diligence is where you win or lose the deal.”

Other topics addressed at the GovCon Summit 2017 included procurement, tax reform and the latest legislative updates. Dr. Jerry McGinn, Principal Deputy Director at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, served as keynote speaker for the Oct. 26 event. Around 400 professionals attended this year’s GovCon Summit.
