WASHINGTON, D.C.—The FCC’s window to apply for FM translators opened this week to tremendous interest. More than 400 AM stations applied to relocate FM translators on day one, according to the Feb. 2nd edition of Communications Daily.

Competition for translators has driven up the price in some markets, particularly in the Northeast. Womble Carlyle Telecom attorney John Garziglia tells Communications Daily that stations in the West may get a better deal if they wait until later in the application window.
