HOUSTON, TEXAS — Womble Bond Dickinson and leading professional services firm JLL, hosted a panel discussion covering the benefits of Opportunity Zones on Sept. 25 at Houston’s Briar Club. The panel featured Womble Bond Dickinson tax and economic development attorney Mike Cashin , Robert Wheat, Director of PWC Asset Management Tax Services Practice, and Matthew Putterman, Director of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. The panelists led a talk about how Opportunity Zones can best be used to generate significant tax savings and investment opportunities. Developers, investors, lenders, tax and wealth advisors, and other real estate professionals attended to learn about recent regulatory updates related to this hot topic.
Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Stephanie Yarbrough moderated the panel discussion. Womble Bond Dickinson associate Kristin Lamb, who organized the event, also was in attendance. The panel was held at the Briar Club.
Mike Cashin has advised public and privately held entities on complex tax planning and structuring matters for more than a decade. His legal practice includes counseling clients on federal opportunity zone regulations, structuring considerations, and tax benefits associated with opportunity zone investments.
