RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—Womble Bond Dickinson has a tradition of community service, and nowhere is that spirit of giving stronger than in Raleigh and Research Triangle Park. Each year, an associate attorney from the firm’s two Triangle offices is honored with the Don Donadio Community Service Award recognizing their devotion to helping others.

This year, Kim Richmond is the Don Donadio Community Service Award honoree. The award is named for Don Donadio, a founding partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Raleigh office who embodies the values of civic commitment and leadership.

Richmond balances her work as corporate transactions attorney with a variety of civic and charitable projects. For example, she captained the Komen Race for the Cure Team for the firm’s Triangle offices for the sixth consecutive year. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Research Triangle Park Office’s Pro Bono Committee.

Richmond volunteered her time for the North Carolina Bar Foundation and Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Lawyer on the Line program, which give private attorneys an easy and rewarding way to provide basic legal advice and service to Legal Aid clients. Through the Women of Womble Bond Dickinson (WOW) initiative, she volunteers with the Helen Wright Center for Women, a local non-profit that provides a wide range of services to homeless women.

In 2018, she was named to the Pro Bono Honor Society by the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center for her devotion to providing legal services to persons of limited means.

Attorneys Sarah Core, Taylor Ey, Mason Freeman and Larry Moye also were nominated for the 2019 Don Donadio Community Service Award. Previous winners of the award are David Boaz (2018), Anna Short-Slightom (2017) and Orla O’Hannaidh (2016).

“Each of these attorneys is helping make our communities better, and it is a privilege to recognize their contributions. As attorneys, we are uniquely situation to lead in our communities, and I am proud that these Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys are doing that each in their own way,” said Beth Tyner Jones, Managing Partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Raleigh and Research Triangle Park offices. “Congratulations to each of these attorneys, and to Kim as our 2019 Don Donadio Community Service Award winner!”

Richmond was honored at the Triangle Office Holiday Party.
