Womble Carlyle is proud to announce the addition of attorney Amy H. Clayton to the firm’s Real Estate practice group as a partner in Womble Carlyle’s Greenville office (following a transitional period in the Columbia office), where she will focus on advising clients in the areas of commercial real estate transactions, commercial finance, commercial leasing, commercial property tax appeals, business formations, and general real estate and corporate law.
“There's no denying that Greenville and South Carolina have beaten the recession and are poised for strong economic growth,” said Larry Estridge, veteran partner in Womble Carlyle’s Real Estate Practice Group. “The addition of a real estate attorney of Amy’s caliber is testament to Womble Carlyle's commitment to be a part of that bright future.”
Clayton works with real estate developers, national, regional and local banks, middle-market investment banks, commercial loan servicers, various national corporations, local small businesses and non-profit organizations, hospitals, medical associations and physician practices.
“Womble Carlyle has established itself as a leading firm with its finger on the pulse of real estate and economic development in South Carolina, so I am thrilled to be joining such a progressive team,” Clayton said.
Womble Carlyle partner Lindsay Smith said, “Amy understands the market and how to get the most out of it for her clients. That's how you build strong relationships and that's more important to us at Womble Carlyle than anything else.”
Clayton, formerly with Nexsen Pruet, earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina after receiving her B.S., summa cum laude, in Biochemistry from Clemson University, where she was the recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award (Clemson’s highest honor awarded to a graduating senior). In 2014, The (Columbia, SC) State newspaper named her as one of its Top 20 Under 40 class of young business leaders.
