Women of Womble celebrated Women's History Month with a discussion with author and historian Julie Des Jardins.

Julie Des Jardins is an historian of American women and gender. She has taught and written extensively in the field, particularly on the history of women in the professions. During this event, Julie discussed her latest book, American Queenmaker: How Missy Meloney Brought Women Into Politics, which chronicles Missy's life’s work championing women, women’s suffrage, and the power of women in politics and leadership positions in the first part of the 20th century. Julie adapted the themes in her book to issues facing modern women in leadership and gender equity in legal, political, and corporate spheres.
