Womble Bond Dickinson created the internship program to provide career awareness opportunities for staff positions at a law firm for diverse students from all majors.
Through the internship program, undergraduate and Master’s students as well as recent graduates can participate in dedicated professional development sessions and networking events across the firm. In addition, interns complete hands-on work that will provide them with unique experiences and insight into the resources that are available at a law firm.
- Womble Bond Dickinson’s summer internship program is 10 weeks in length and takes place in the firm’s North Carolina offices including Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Raleigh, RTP and Greensboro. Interns will be assigned to a corporate department to expand their learning experience and networking opportunities.
- Through the internship program, interns will build a network with one another as well as with their teams and their assigned internship mentor. Interns will be invited to both office and firm events and will participate in an end-of-internship showcase where they will share their takeaways and celebrate their accomplishments.
- Candidates eager to learn about careers at law firms and to develop their professional skills are encouraged to apply to the firm’s summer internship program. Candidates who are proactive, driven and have a growth mindset will be successful in this program.
Previous interns have completed projects such as the following over the course of the 10-week program:
- Talent Management: Researched pending employment laws to inform future human resources initiatives
- Administration: Partnered with offices across the US to plan Womble Day of Service volunteering activities
- Knowledge Management: Developed an AI ChatBot to help answer questions commonly asked by interns
Benefits of participating in our internship program include:
- Professional Development: Attend bi-weekly professional development trainings and leverage those skills as you travel to the firm’s Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Raleigh offices
- Networking: Build your network across the firm by completing a Networking BINGO challenge and having some friendly competition between your fellow interns and IP co-ops
- Team Building: Form strong bonds with your fellow interns and IP co-ops by attending a range of in-person and virtual events such as outings at TopGolf and virtual drawing classes
Want to learn more? Hear directly from a couple of our former interns:
"What I enjoyed most about the experience was the organizational culture. The firm’s people-centric value is manifested not only with clients, but in the day-to-day interactions in the office. Members of different teams love to collaborate and they truly care about one another."
– Toffy, Former Summer Intern, Talent Management and Recruiting
"During my time at Womble, I enjoyed networking with individuals inside and outside of my department. I was able to expand my digital marketing skill set while gathering insights into the different post-grad career paths of the people on my team. Although I was assigned to the Marketing team, I had daily collaborations with Communications, Design, Client Development, and Events. I appreciated how open everyone was to answering my questions and reaching out to me with projects to expand my skills and experiences."
– Bella, Former Summer Intern, Client Development
