WASHINGTON, DC (October 3, 2024) – Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that Stephen J. Snyder has joined the firm’s Washington, DC, office as a partner in the Business Litigation Practice Group. Snyder has extensive experience advising energy sector clients in transactional matters and in regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state regulatory commissions. He has represented independent power producers; transmission-owning utilities; pipeline companies; renewable, energy storage, and traditional project developers; large end users; electric cooperatives; and lenders.

Snyder’s transactional experience includes drafting and negotiating agreements for power purchase, generation, and transmission interconnection; facility purchase and sale, financing, fuel supply, O&M, off-take, and energy services; pipeline transportation, gathering, storage, and interconnection; renewable power, environmental attributes, and REC purchase and sale; and power and gas commodities. He also represents clients in regulatory matters, including developing and supporting transmission and reactive rates; securing FERC approvals for the transfer of jurisdictional facilities and issuance of securities; compliance for public utilities and holding companies; advising on RTO/ISO tariffs and practices; qualifying facility and interconnecting utility rights under PURPA; and oil and gas pipeline tariff, regulatory, and jurisdictional issues.

“With Steve’s FERC experience, we can provide more comprehensive representation to energy and utility clients seeking to develop projects, expand footprints, and operate within energy markets across the United States,” said Lisa Rushton, Leader of the Business Litigation Practice Group and Co-Head of the Energy and Natural Resource Sector. “His experience adds meaningful depth to our existing energy team and provides us with expanded capabilities to represent clients in both routine and contested federal and state regulatory proceedings and supports a broader variety of commercial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, asset transfers, and financings within the energy sector. I’ve worked with Steve for many years, so I know he’s a terrific lawyer and fit for our firm.”
