Genevieve Walser-Jolly represents financial institutions, including banks, lenders, and loan servicers. Her practice includes defending individual and consumer class actions (for example, data privacy, mortgage servicing, TCPA, and auto finance).
Genevieve helps clients (in and outside of financial services) set up data privacy and security programs to comply with federal statutory schemes and the evolving patchwork of state privacy laws. She assists clients as they compile data maps, update vendor management programs, draft contractual privacy requirements and policies, and operationalize comprehensive consumer response programs. She guides clients as they navigate the quickly developing regulatory environment in privacy and resulting investigations. Her privacy practice focuses on U.S. laws, including but not limited to GLBA, CalFIPA, CalOPPA, CCPA (California), CPA (Colorado), CTDPA (Connecticut), and VCDPA (Virginia).
Genevieve approaches the practice of law in a pragmatic manner, with an emphasis on efficiency and client service. Understanding her client’s individual needs and goals is key to her effective representation and advice.
A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Genevieve serves as vice chair of the Privacy and Data Security Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Consumer Financial Services Committee. She is also an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and author of the California Continuing Education of the Bar’s treatises on the California Consumer Privacy Act (Ch.10A, Privacy Litigation) and Privacy Laws Affecting Debtors and Debt Collection (Ch. 2C, Debt Collection Practice).
