BURLINGTON, VT.—Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys Jeff Simpson and Andy Rennick will represent the firm at the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) 2019 Annual Conference. The conference takes place August 6-8.

The VCIA Annual Conference will feature sessions for those new to captive insurance, those in accounting / finance, operations, and risk management. Professional development sessions are offered as well. Nearly 100 captive insurance industry companies are scheduled to exhibit at the event.

The Vermont Captive Insurance Association is the largest trade association for captive insurance in the world. Established in 1985, the VCIA has grown to provide lobbying support on both the state and federal levels for its nearly 500 member companies.

Simpson also recently represented Womble Bond Dickinson at the Montana Captive Insurance Association Annual Conference , the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association Annual Conference (which included a presentation by Rennick) and the Kentucky Captive Association 2019 Educational Conference . Simpson and Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Lisa Bondurant gave a presentation on “Legal Issues Facing the Captive Industry” at the Kentucky event.

Jeff Simpson leads Womble Bond Dickinson’s Captive Insurance Team. He focuses his practice on the formation, regulation and governance of captive insurance companies, and assists with all matters in the lifecycle of a captive. Jeff is a founder and director of the Delaware Captive Insurance Association and serves on its legislative and regulatory liaison committees, working closely with regulators. He also is a director of the Self-Insurance Institute of America and chairs its Enterprise Risk Captive Advocacy Working Group.

Andrew Rennick is an experienced attorney who guides captive insurance companies in corporate formation, insurance regulatory and day-to-day governance issues. He is a frequent author and speaker on captive insurance topics and is a faculty member for the International Center for Captive Insurance Education. Rennick also serves on the Regulatory Liaison Committee of the Delaware Captive Insurance Association.
