Womble Bond Dickinson’s Captive Insurance Team recently traveled to Dublin for the Self-Insurance Institute of America (SIIA) International Conference.

Doug Butler, Aaron Pohlmann, Jeff Simpson, and Adrian Williams (WBD UK) represented the firm at the SIIA International Conference. Captive insurance and self-insurance industry professionals gathered for three days of educational programming and networking in one of the world’s financial capitals.

In addition, Butler took part in a panel discussion titled, “Dublin’s Story as a Leading Captive Domicile…and Related Commentary”. The session discussed how Ireland became a leading captive domicile and how it has positioned itself for the future. The speakers also discussed developments related to Brexit and Solvency II (captive carve-outs, etc.)  as well as challenging technical issues of captive structures.  

Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) Supervisor Senior Theresa Ready joined Butler in the discussion, which was moderated by Artex Risk Solutions International Commercial Director Mike Matthews.

The SIIA International Conference took place July 22-24.
