Best-selling author and speaker Simon Sinek famously said, “Leadership is not a license to do less; it is a responsibility to do more.” The Daily Record’s Managing Partner Awards honor leaders who are doing just that—including Womble Bond Dickinson Chair & CEO Merrick Benn.

Benn is among the managing partners and equivalent senior leaders in the legal and financial services industries who will be recognized for demonstrating “vision, integrity, and measurable impact on their organizations and communities. These leaders are recognized for their professional achievements, commitment to developing the next generation of talent, and their meaningful contributions to their firms and the broader community.” The honorees were selected by The Daily Record’s editorial team.

Merrick Benn became Womble’s Chair and CEO on Jan. 1, 2025, after serving in numerous firm leadership positions. One of his first responsibilities in this role was to oversee the combination of Womble Bond Dickinson and Lewis Roca. Today, Womble is a firm of more than 1,300 attorneys in 40 offices in the U.S. and UK.

A global finance partner, Benn has 25 years of experience advising clients in equipment finance transactions, including secured financings, cross-border transactions, and structured finance.

The Daily Record Managing Partners Award Celebration will take place June 9 at the Doubletree Baltimore BWI Airport in Linthicum, Md.

“The inaugural Managing Partners award recipients are outstanding leaders in law and finance. Their innovative thinking and dedication to their fields demonstrate their strong commitment to their organizations, communities and beyond,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record. “These accomplished professionals also provide invaluable guidance to the next generation of leaders through mentoring. We at The Daily Record are pleased to celebrate these stellar leaders in our community.”
