Once again, attorneys and staff from Womble Bond Dickinson’s Raleigh and RTP offices took part in a Food Bank Service Day at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Team members and guests spent three hours sorting food to help the Food Bank on Saturday, March 23.

Volunteers included Alex Buckley, Kristina Schwartz and husband Reed, Connie Aull, Anne Saxby, Christina Rardon and her husband, Jill Walters, Jenni Ammirati, Jon Mize, Anna Short-Slightom and husband Brian, and Taylor Ey. The team sorted over 6,275 pounds of food, which translates to about 5,229 meals! Attorney Anna Short-Slightom organized the volunteer effort.

The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina serves nearly 605,000 food insecure individuals within its 34-county service area. About one-third of its clients are kids and one-third are elderly, and forty percent of the food bank’s distributions are fresh produce.

In addition, attorneys and staff from all five of Womble Bond Dickinson’s North Carolina offices currently are participating in the North Carolina Legal Feeding Frenzy. The annual campaign aims to fight hunger across North Carolina by uniting the legal community in support of local food banks.
