Womble Bond Dickinson’s Marketing Team won several awards during the Legal Marketing Association Southeast Region 2020 Your Honor Awards. The Legal Marketing Association has more than 3,700 members internationally, and more than 90% of the largest 200 U.S. law firms employ a member of the organization. Our team sent in four submissions, all of which were awarded either first place or third place in their categories. The last time that the firm won a Legal Marketing Award was 2014. That year, the Marketing Team won third place in the Holiday Cards category and the Identity category, as well as second place in the Online Interactive Marketing Tools category for its Cross-Sell Videos. 

The Strategic Pursuits team won first place in the Client Services category for their work in establishing a strategic process for formal pursuits. Parker Poe was awarded second place, and Burr & Forman LLP was awarded third place. The team built and deployed a firm-wide formal pursuits process that achieved a number of client-service delivery goals with little to no hard costs and measurable KPIs that show return on investment for the marketing time and soft costs associated with the launch and ongoing operations of the Strategic Pursuits Team. Efficiencies created through the process enabled the department to handle almost twice the volume of proposals year-over-year. 

The Marketing team won first place in the Communications: Content Marketing category for its external digital resource, “Navigating the Legal Challenges of COVID-19”. In the midst of the pandemic, this resource guide offered new alerts and guidance for various industries in addition to dedicated hubs offering guidance around workforce developments, data privacy, regulatory and other importance areas of concern for our clients. The website offered these dedicated resource hubs in addition to a webinar library, podcasts, an interactive 50-guide to reopening guidance and a “Return To Work” guide in user-friendly flipbook format. Jones Walker LLP and GrayRobinson, P.A. were awarded second and third place in this category. 

The Digital Marketing team won third place in the Technology: Applications and Innovative Use of Software, Technology and Other Platforms category for the development of digital employee advocacy via EveryoneSocial. EveryoneSocial is designed to save attorneys valuable time by offering curated content to share on social media platforms. By sharing both content produced by the firm and content that is relevant to the various sectors and services, the firm can expand its own digital share of voice while helping attorneys build their own marketplace eminence online.  Eversheds Sutherland won first place for their client-facing e-learning platform. 

The Design team won third place in the Brand Enhancement category for their branding of WBD Advance. With innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit at the forefront, WBD Advance was developed to operate as a de-facto small business within the firm, utilizing lawyer and staff resources to meet an identified legal or business need in the greater marketplace. The Graphic Design team developed a “branded-house” approach for sub-branding with each product offering or service as distinct, yet relating to the overall WBD Advance brand.  Rumberger Kirk won first place for their firm rebranding effort.
