NEW YORK—Attorneys and staff from Womble Bond Dickinson’s Energy and Natural Resources Sector Team took part in the International Partnering Forum 2019, an event run by the Business Network for Offshore Wind (BNOW).

More than 1,400 offshore wind industry professionals attended IPF19, representing companies across the supply chain. The conference brought together representatives from manufacturing, government and service suppliers to foster networking and business development.

Partner Joe Tirone took part in a panel discussion on “US Offshore Wind Market Development Challenges”. He was joined in the discussion by James Bennett of the Office of Renewable Energy Programs at the US Bureau of Energy Management; Doreen Harris, Director of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA); and Joel Whitman of the Whitman Consulting Group. MHI Vesta Offshore Wind A/S Senior Sales Manager Chris Long moderated the discussion.

In addition to Tirone, Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys Belton Zeigler and Jesse Schaefer, Client Service Director Christé Spiers and Marketing & Client Resources Manager Lisa Lindquist represented the firm at the conference.

Joe Tirone is the co-leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Energy and Natural Resources Sector. His practice focuses on energy project and infrastructure development, mergers and acquisitions and project finance. He has represented energy sector companies in structuring, negotiating and drafting a range of complex contracts and agreements. Tirone advises various stakeholders in a broad range of issues in the renewable generation sector, including developers, equity participants, equipment providers, and financing parties. His experience includes working as in-house counsel for an independent power producer in connection with the development, construction and finance of power generation facilities. Tirone is on the Board of the Business Network for Offshore Wind.

Belton Zeigler is the co-leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Energy and Natural Resources Sector. Zeigler provides clients with solutions to complex energy, utility, environmental and cybersecurity matters based on more than 30 years of energy industry experience. He has served as general counsel to a major electric and natural gas utility, where he also had managerial responsibility for industrial customer relations, power marketing and strategic planning.

Jesse Schaefer represents clients in all manner of business conflicts, including contract disputes, consumer finance and financial services disputes, landlord/tenant issues, foreclosures, Public Records Act disputes and judgment enforcement. He also has served as a US Naval Officer and continues to serve in the Naval Reserve.
