Womble Bond Dickinson’s Boston Office has long supported Thompson Island and its outdoor education programs. On Nov. 10, WBD team members from the office volunteered for a day of service on the island. Many leaves were raked and lots of good memories were created!

Thompson Island is an island in the Boston Harbor dedicated to providing outdoor education experiences to Boston’s Public Schools, which it has been doing since the early 1800s as one of the oldest continuously operating nonprofit institutions in the city. Today, the Thompson Island Connections Program mixes hands-on STEM (science, technology, environmental, and math) education with social/emotional and character-building Outward Bound initiatives to provide a unique experience for middle school age youth. The program partners with the Boston Public Schools to provide programing for students in the fifth through eighth grades.

WBD Partner Gordon Penman serves as a Trustee of the Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center.
