Constantine Marantidis is a partner and Managing Partner of Womble’s Los Angeles office. He helps clients protect, enforce and extract value from market-defining innovations through creative, litigation-ready patent portfolio strategies, PTAB and reexamination proceedings, and high-stakes patent litigation. With an advanced engineering background in aeronautical engineering and engineering mechanics, Constantine distills complex technologies into compelling, outcome-driven narratives that resonate with courts, the PTAB, and senior business leadership.
He serves as a strategic counsel for patent disputes from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal—shaping infringement and invalidity theories, integrating technical and damages narratives. Clients rely on him not only to manage litigation, but to align prosecution, licensing, and enforcement decisions with litigation risk, settlement leverage, and long-term business objectives. His disciplined business-first approach enables companies to use patent litigation as a deliberate strategic tool to provide commercial advantage.
Constantine’s experience spans aerospace and defense, propulsion and advanced materials, medical devices, automotive and complex mechanical systems, electro-mechanical and optics, nanotechnology, chemicals, energy, and software-enabled business methods—making him a go-to counselor when the technical record is dense and the stakes are high.
In post-grant proceedings, he crafts institution-focused strategies that complement parallel district court litigation, and uses PTAB outcomes to reshape risk profiles and settlement dynamics. He also negotiates complex IP licenses and dispute resolution agreements that protect freedom to operate, monetize core assets, and avoid repeat disputes.
A fully rated pilot and certified airframe and power plant mechanic, Constantine brings a hands-on engineer’s perspective to fact development and strategy. Outside of practice, he enjoys sailing and competing in races in Santa Monica.
