California Lawyers for the Arts Honors Womble Bond Dickinson for Patent Pro Bono Service

For years, California Lawyers for the Arts (CLA) has been an invaluable resource for inventors who have great ideas, but who are unable to afford legal representation to secure their intellectual property. 

CLA provides pro bono assistance to these innovators and last year, Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys provided more than 700 hours of pro bono service to CLA-referred clients—more than any other law firm. Dan Ovanezian, the Co-Chair of WBD’s Pro Bono Committee, has spearheaded the firm’s involvement with CLA. 

CLA recently honored Womble Bond Dickinson for this dedication to pro bono service. The firm was honored at CLA’s 14^th Annual Artistic License Awards. Attorney Jay Adisesh was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the firm. Adisesh has been instrumental in managing the patent pro bono work that WBD does for CLA.

In addition to Ovanezian and Adisesh, other WBD team members providing pro bono service to CLA include Tony Chen, Jason Chu, John Forcier, Dylon Register, Chad Tian and Travis Yribarren.  

Adisesh said, “Whether they are part of a fortune 500 company, or simply an individual trying to solve an everyday problem, Womble is committed to assisting inventors in securing protection for their ideas, regardless of what walk of life they are from.”

Recently, the firm honored Ovanezian with the Irving Carlyle Pro Bono Publico Award for his dedication to pro bono service. His work with CLA is an important component of that distinguished service.
