Womble Bond Dickinson has been ranked as one of the country’s 10 best patent prosecution law firms in a new report based on objective measurements.

The firm ranked #8 in Juristat’s Top 100 Patent Firms of 2018. The Juristat ranking of the top patent firms considers both volume and performance. The rankings are based on four key metrics, as measured from July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2016. These metrics are:

  • Number of applications filed;
  • Allowance rate;
  • Average number of office actions before allowance; and
  • Average time to allowance.

“The Juristat report is particularly meaningful because it is based on measurable criteria,” said Jim Vaughan, Chair of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Intellectual Property Department. “We are grateful that clients depend on us to oversee and manage their patent prosecution work.”

Although not reflected in the Juristat report, Womble Bond Dickinson’s patent practice became even stronger in January with the addition of the former Blakely Sokoloff Taylor Zafman, LLP team in California. The team includes a number of veteran patent prosecution attorneys.
