CHARLESTON, SC – Gordon Schreck, a senior member of Womble Carlyle’s Admiralty, Global Logistics and Transportation Practice Team in Charleston, was among a select number of Charleston port leaders recently invited to attend a roundtable discussion facilitated by Brenda Brockman Smith, Executive Assistant Commission of the Office of Trade, US. Customs and Border Protection. 

Commissioner Smith is responsible for the compliance of millions of cargo shipments that flow in and out of the US each year.  Her office overseas a diverse portfolio of trade facilitation and enforcement matters, including the oversight of national compliance audits, the management of trade data, and CBP’s regulatory process for administering trade and border operations.  The roundtable, held at the office of the Maritime Association of South Carolina, provided local port leaders an opportunity for dialogue with Commissioner Smith on current questions and issues important to trade development in South Carolina.

Gordon Schreck is a senior partner in Womble Carlyle’s Charleston office, where he focuses his practice on intermodal transportation, global logistics and marine financing.  A past chairman of the Maritime Association of South Carolina, he has some 47 years of experience representing shipping and marine insurance interests at the Port of Charleston.
