WASHINGTON – In further expansion of its Washington office, Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that Lee K. Van Voorhis has joined the firm as a partner in the Business Litigation group, and Katie Hyman has joined as a partner in the Trademarks, Copyrights, and Transactions group. 

Van Voorhis has more than 25 years of experience in the antitrust space, including counselling and dispute resolution. He joins Womble from the Washington office of an international law firm where he served as co-chair of the global Antitrust and Competition Law practice and a member of the Corporate, Litigation, Gaming, and Private Equity practices. 

Hyman is widely experienced in international dispute resolution, including multijurisdictional, shore, and investor-state matters. She is a data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity specialist, with dual qualifications as an English solicitor and New York attorney and is admitted as a special legal consultant in the District of Columbia.

Lee K. Van Voorhis
Van Voorhis regularly represents clients in the technology, retail and consumer, healthcare, media, and other sectors before federal antitrust agencies in the US and national competition agencies in the European Union and the United Kingdom. He has successfully defended clients’ transactions from government challenges and represented them in litigation and arbitration proceedings. He also has extensive experience shepherding transactions through merger clearance and helping clients conduct business efficiently while mitigating the risk of violating antitrust and competition laws. Van Voorhis earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School and his B.A. from Yale University. 

Katie Hyman
Hyman represents a variety of clients, including in the energy and telecoms industries, in high-value, complex international commercial arbitration proceedings under the major arbitral rules worldwide, and in investor-state arbitrations. She also assists multinational clients, with a particular focus on the needs of start-ups, with the design and development of privacy-sensitive policies for the collection and use of personal data, with an increasing emphasis on the privacy aspects of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and ethical data use.
