Womble Bond Dickinson will be well-represented at the American Bar Association’s False Claims Act Mock Trial Institute 2024, with attorneys taking part in both the mock trial and panel discussion portions of the event.

The Mock Trial Institute takes place Oct. 16-18 in Washington, D.C. at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Historic Courthouse. Attendees will learn the art of trying a False Claims Act case to a jury verdict and witness the mock jury’s deliberations, seeing which of the themes presented by experienced plaintiffs’ and defense lawyers resonated—and why. This fun and innovative program gets rave reviews. The firm also will host a reception at the D.C. office during the award-winning event, co-chaired by Michael Clark.

  • Michael Clark will represent the defense in the “Closing Arguments & Jury Instructions” and “Jury Deliberations & Verdict” portions of the mock trial. Following the verdict, the trial faculty will analyze the jury’s deliberation. The audience then will have the chance to ask questions.
  • Luke Cass and Jasmine Chalashtori will take part in a panel discussion on, “Beyond PowerPoint and Dice Rolling - Jury, Graphic, and Other Trial Consultants.” False Claims Act trial attorneys rely on a variety of trial consultants, such as jury consultants who set up mock juries and assist with juror selection, and graphics consultants who use cutting edge graphics and visuals to assist counsel in being more persuasive. This panel will explore the development and use of strategic visuals in Qui Tam matters as well as other types of cases.
