Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Mark Tuft was recently appointed to the California Lawyers Association Legal Ethics Committee for a two-year term.

The Ethics Committee is dedicated to upholding the standards of ethics and professionalism in the legal profession. The committee provides feedback and comments on proposed opinions, rules and legislation that impact attorney ethics and professionalism. The committee also writes advisory opinions on ethical issues where guidance is needed and develops educational content to educate the entire profession on ethics issues.

Clients turn to Tuft in matters related to professional responsibility and liability. He is a former chair and special advisor to the California State Bar Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct and is a former president of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.

In addition, Tuft served as a member of the California State Bar Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct that drafted the current ethics rules for California lawyers. He was awarded the 2022 Harry B. Sondheim Professional Responsibility Award by the California Lawyers Association for his long-term work in advancing attorney professional standards in California. And earlier this year, the Daily Journal of Los Angeles and San Francisco named him one of California’s Top Professional Responsibility Attorneys for the fourth consecutive year.
