Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Lee Van Voorhis spoke to the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Compliance and Ethics Network during their August Monthly Membership Meeting on Aug. 15. Van Voorhis and Perseus General Counsel (and WBD alum) Heather Pruger discussed “Current Events in Antitrust”.
Over the past year, The Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice have proposed new rules on non-competes and for merger filings and have released a proposed set of new Horizontal Merger Guidelines. If adopted, these rules and Guidelines would constitute dramatic changes to the current state of U.S. antitrust law, and even the U.S. economy generally.
Van Voorhis has more than 25 years of experience representing clients before federal antitrust agencies in the U.S., as well as national competition agencies in the European Union and the United Kingdom. He has successfully defended clients’ transactions from government challenges and represented them in litigation and arbitration proceedings. He also has extensive experience shepherding transactions through merger clearance and helping clients conduct business efficiently while mitigating the risk of violating antitrust and competition laws.
Womble Bond Dickinson is the sponsor of the ACC Compliance and Ethics Network.
