This event took place on September 22, 2021.
Our trainings are reserved solely for those employed by institutions of higher education. Please contact Stephen Vaughan at Stephen.Vaughan@wbd-us.com with any questions.
Womble Bond Dickinson’s higher education team is pleased to invite you and your team to participate in its Title IX/VAWA trainings. With the additional procedural requirements imposed by the 2020 Title IX Regulations, this has been an especially challenging year for institutions and their Title IX teams.
This webinar training was designed to meet your institution’s annual Title IX and VAWA training obligations for those investigating allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, regardless of whether the underlying complaint meets the 2020 Title IX Regulation’s narrow definition of Title IX sexual harassment or falls under other policies and procedures. We covered the elements of legally compliant investigations, including discussion of the current status of the Title IX, investigative techniques, impartiality, evidentiary issues, the potential impact of trauma, report drafting, and the interplay with other roles on campus. This course is designed specifically for investigators, and we encourage Title IX coordinators and team members who consult with the investigators to attend.
This is more than a “check the box” training. Our trainings are conducted by higher education attorneys who have worked on hundreds of sexual misconduct investigations, have annually trained institutions and their investigators nationwide, and have advised institutions and their investigators on the full breadth of legal issues related to allegations and investigations of sexual harassment and misconduct. Relying on the Womble higher education team’s collective experience, this investigator training is designed to provide an experience that is practical and interactive. We also engage your team members through an active, ripped from the headlines type case study weaved throughout the training. The case study provides participants with the opportunity to observe role play and actively participate in a mock investigation and decision-making process. Our aim is to help train your teams to become better and even more informed investigators.
