Mark is based in our Leeds office and heads the Developers and Investors team in the Real Estate Group which operates nationally. He specialises in development work for both the public and private sectors. His works spans the country and he is highly experienced in land assembly involving conditional agreements, co-operation/collaboration agreements, options, pre-emptions, development agreements, promotion agreements (including those incorporating options), the documentation of overage whether in standalone deeds or land transfers.

Mark specialises in strategic land assembly for large mixed-use development sites for the creation of new towns with community and associated infrastructure with commercial space. His development experience includes the development and disposal of office and retail parks, rail freight facilities and motor trade premises.

Mark is also qualified as a solicitor to practice in Hong Kong where he worked for six years.

    Examples of experience include advising:
    • Commercial Estates Group on numerous mixed use development sites countrywide involving land assembly by conditional contracts, options, pre-emptions, planning promotion agreements and co-operation/collaboration agreements and land sales incorporating complex overage arrangements and deferred payments and related security arrangements
    • Leeds City Council on the land transfer, sale development and CPO indemnity agreements relating to both the Trinity Quarter developed by Land Securities and the Victoria Gate scheme currently being developed by Hammerson
    • The development of Thorpe Park (which is a 1.8m sq ft office park), on the A1/M1 link road to the east of Leeds having been involved from inception dealing with site assembly, development agreements leases and investment sales
    • South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Authority on their HQ relocation to accommodate the then proposed Hammerson redevelopment of central Sheffield known as the New Retail Quarter.
