Dec 18 2025
GREENSBORO, NC (December 18, 2025) – Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that Stephen Shaw has rejoined the firm’s Trademark, Copyright, Privacy, and IP Transactions practice group in Greensboro.
Shaw advises companies on trademark, copyright, trade dress, and design-patent matters, with experience protecting a range of well-known consumer brands. He guides clients through federal litigation, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, online-marketplace and domain-name enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting actions. He also counsels on IP licensing and transactions, drawing on a background that includes tax and corporate considerations related to technology and brand assets.
Shaw reenters private practice after serving as Global Intellectual Property Counsel for a multinational apparel and footwear company, where he led day-to-day IP functions for a portfolio of consumer brands. In that role, he managed clearance and prosecution strategies, coordinated enforcement initiatives, and worked with product, marketing, and technology teams to align legal priorities with business needs.
Prior to his in-house position, Shaw spent more than a decade as a litigation partner at Womble, representing Fortune 500 and mid-market clients in trademark, copyright, design, and patent disputes. He has handled matters involving counterfeit goods, domain-name issues, online fraud, and e-commerce violations, and maintains experience in trial-level proceedings.
“Stephen’s return strengthens our IP capabilities and adds depth to our presence in the Triad market,” said Randy Springer, Trademark Team Leader at Womble. “His combination of litigation and brand-protection experience benefits clients across the region and beyond.”
