Jorge Lozano, Karthika Perumal & Tyler Burdon to Take Part in Fall Institute on Intellectual Property Law

Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Jorge Lozano is serving as Chair of the Institute for Intellectual Property & Information’s 42nd Annual Fall Institute on Intellectual Property Law. Presented by the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association (HIPLA) and the University of Houston Law Center. This event brings together in-house counsel and outside firm counsel, government representatives and other IP-service providers from Texas and across the United States on September 17-19 in Galveston, Texas. Sessions will address current trends and developments in patent law, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, and the use of artificial intelligence in legal practice.
Lozano, who is the Vice President of HIPLA, led the vision, planning, and execution of the 2026 Fall Institute, coordinating the conference's educational program, speakers, sponsors, and attendee experience to deliver one of HIPLA's flagship events. He will welcome attendees with daily opening remarks, supervise conference events, and close the conference.
Karthika Perumal, Managing Partner of Womble’s Houston office, will introduce keynote speaker Shira Perlmutter, Register of Copyrights and Director of the U.S. Copyright Office, for a timely address from the nation’s leading copyright official.
In addition, Womble Bond Dickinson’s Tyler Burdon will serve as the speaker’s moderator on September 17th.
