The North Carolina Bar Association convened in Asheville from June 26-28 for its Annual Meeting, bringing together hundreds of attorneys—including numerous judges from across the state, among them, the former and current Chief Justices of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
At the helm of this prestigious event was Kim Stogner, who presided with the same grace and integrity that have defined her tenure as NCBA President.
As Kim concludes her term, she leaves behind a legacy of progress and institutional strength. Under her leadership, the NCBA completed a comprehensive strategic plan that will serve as a blueprint for the organization’s future, prioritizing innovation, inclusion, and service to the profession and the public.
Achievements during Kim’s presidency include the milestone of the NCBF’s not merely meeting but surpassing its endowment goal for the recently established Open Door Fellowship. With the endowment on solid footing, this initiative is now positioned to expand access to the legal profession for worthy law students from historically underrepresented communities.
Kim also led the NCBA through moments of urgent need. Hurricane Helene struck one-third of the state of North Carolina, and the Association helped mobilize a vast network of legal assistance to support affected communities. Alongside other agencies, the Association held nine onsite events to provide legal assistance to residents striving to recover from devastating loss.
Kim’s presidency has been marked by clarity of purpose, collaborative spirit, and a steadfast belief in the power of the law to serve the greater good. As we celebrate her accomplishments, we also express our deepest gratitude for her service—not only to the NCBA, but to the broader legal community and the values we all share.
Please join us in congratulating Kim on a remarkable year of leadership.
