CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Ground has broken on the newest addition to the Uptown Charlotte skyline—the $110 million Kessler Grand Bohemian Hotel. Womble Bond Dickinson client the Kessler Collection is building the 254-room luxury boutique hotel, and a Womble Bond Dickinson real estate team led by Joe Foltz represented the Kessler Collection in the project.

In addition to Foltz, partners Laura Hester, Keith Taylor and Carolyn Wilson, associates Ashley Bynoe and Jessica Johns and paralegals Linda Martin and Kerri Athanas assisted the Kessler Collection in this deal. Negotiations began in November 2017.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new 15-story hotel was held May 31. The Kessler Grand Bohemian Hotel will feature fine dining, a rooftop lounge, more than 18,000 square feet of meeting space, spa facilities and a Starbucks coffee shop. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2020.

Foltz has represented real estate developer Richard Kessler and his related entities for more than 25 years. In recent years, the two have worked together on such projects as the Plant Riverside hotel, restaurant and entertainment project in Savannah, Ga., as well as Grand Bohemian Hotels in Asheville, N.C., Charleston, S.C. and Mountain Brook, Ala.
