
Michael (Mike) Lane is an experienced trial attorney that focuses his practice on a diverse range of litigation matters including those within the bankruptcy forum.
Mike regularly represents consumer lending institutions, such as mortgage lenders, investors and servicers, in connection with the defense of claims by borrowers. He also assists corporations in contractual disputes relating to purchase and sale agreements, service contracts, loan agreements and security interests. In addition, Mike represents secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation, including adversary proceedings relating to commercial and consumer loans and mortgage servicing, and preference and fraudulent transfer actions. He also assists clients with claim objections, contract assumption or rejection issues, use of cash collateral, and sale of estate assets within the bankruptcy forum.
Mike’s wide-ranging litigation experience includes commercial real estate disputes and fiduciary and probate litigation, including claims of undue influence and lack of capacity. He also represents employers in matters relating to prevailing wages, sales commissions and misappropriation of trade secrets, as well as enforcement of non-competition and non-solicitation covenants.
After graduating law school, Mike served as judicial law clerk for the Hon. Joyce London Alexander and then the Hon. Judith Dein, both of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Prior to joining the firm, he also practiced at a litigation and bankruptcy boutique firm in Massachusetts from 2010-2020 and then at a large East Coast firm from 2020-2025.

- Represented comprehensive life science solutions and technology company through two-week bench trial in Massachusetts Superior Court, obtaining attorney’s fees and permanent injunction in favor of client to enforce its contractual rights to an integrated software platform.
- Represented mortgagee and loan servicer in four-day adversary proceeding bench trial relating to alleged misapplication of post-petition payments.
- Represented loan servicer in defense of borrower's claims for violations of the FDCPA and bankruptcy discharge injunction.
- Represent aircraft and engine manufacturers, suppliers and lessors in numerous aviation and aerospace bankruptcies, including claim objections, contract assumption and rejection issues, and defense of preference claims relating to priority of artisan liens.
- Represented local, regional, and national banks in connection with fraudulent account activity and related litigation.
- Represented commercial lessors and lessees in litigation relating to lease provisions and the impact of governmental COVID-19 orders.
- Represent homeowner in Land Court trial relating to easement rights for recreational beach use.
- Obtained partial summary judgment on behalf of assignee of commercial mortgage and lost promissory note, entitling lender to recoup proceeds from foreclosure sale.
- Obtained judgment in favor of Chapter 11 debtor-developer against purported purchaser's claim for specific performance of contract to purchase condominium unit.
- Prosecuted Wage Act claims on behalf of former employee relating to unpaid commissions on long-term service contracts.
- Successfully defended cases on behalf of business owners over alleged violations of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, including through summary judgment.
- Defended non-dischargeability claims under 11 U.S.C. § 523(a) relating to purported efforts to thwart collection of debt.
