Liz Tipping has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in civil, commercial, and criminal matters, with a primary focus on construction law. She has successfully tried cases in both jury and non-jury settings in state and federal courts and has advocated for clients at every level of the judiciary, including the Supreme Court of the United States. 

Liz brings deep industry insight and decades of litigation experience to support construction companies and small businesses throughout all stages of their operations. Her practice spans contract negotiation and drafting, risk management, dispute resolution, and litigation, with a practical, business-focused approach.

An active member of both the legal and construction communities, Liz is affiliated with the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel, National Women in Roofing, and the Lawyers’ Association for Women. She also teaches advocacy skills at programs offered by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), and serves as Program Director for NITA’s annual Deposition Skills Program in Nashville.Beyond her legal and construction work, Liz is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). In 2019, she co-founded the SCBWI MidSouth mentorship program alongside #1 New York Times best-selling author Sharon Cameron.

  • Obtained dismissal of claims against subcontractor in arbitration alleging violations of Tennessee Prompt Pay Act.
  • Obtained jury verdict in favor of contractor in counterclaim against insurance company that filed suit seeking to avoid payment of insurance claim.
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of major hotel chain in lawsuit alleging $75 million in damages.
  • Represented class of South Carolina drivers in successful appeal to United States Supreme Court concerning privacy rights and the use of protected information.
  • Defended privately-held corporation in federal criminal investigation related to alleged conspiracy to defraud customers.
  • Appointed to Plaintiff Steering Committee in multidistrict litigation concerning antitrust violations.
  • Successfully obtained significant wrongful death and personal injury settlements in cases involving products liability, medical malpractice, car and truck accidents, and 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims.
