On October 8, Womble Bond Dickinson San Francisco Office Managing Partner and AI Practice Team Co-Founder Chris Mammen will speak in a webinar titled, “Managing Outside Counsel Technology Use: AI, Confidentiality, Risk, and Oversight.”
This CLE course will examine how corporate legal departments can manage outside counsel's use of artificial intelligence, automation tools, third-party platforms, and other legal technologies. Technologies often increase efficiency and accelerate service delivery. However, they also create challenges for maintaining confidentiality and privilege, handling data securely, and ensuring accountability for any resulting problems.
Counsel must consider how engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines address technology use, disclosure requirements, vendor management, information security controls, and billing practices. Effective oversight requires legal departments to understand how firms use technology in client matters without unnecessarily interfering with productive outside counsel relationships.
The panel will discuss strategies and approaches to establish technology expectations, protect client and corporate confidential information, evaluate outside counsel practices, and monitor outside counsel compliance.
The webinar is presented by BARBRI.
