Womble Bond Dickinson Team Represents FPF Defense Inc. in its Series Seed Preferred Financing Transaction

Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys Robert “Al” Broadbent, Alidad Vakili, Maan Sangid, and Garrett Garcia represented FPF Defense, a defense technology startup, in its recent seed funding round. The round was led by Ondas, Inc. and RSE Ventures, LLC.

FPF Defense is a defense, aerospace, and technology startup focused on the rapid deployment of autonomous counter-drone solutions. Led by former acting U.S. Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller and Grant Fox, who served in the U.S. Navy from 1996 to 2003 with seven years in the intelligence and Secure Communications and Cryptography division, the company leverages deep operational and strategic expertise to develop next-generation technologies addressing evolving threats on the modern battlefield.

Miller said, “The cheapest weapons on the battlefield are getting past the most sophisticated defenses we field. I spent 27 years in uniform and served as Acting Secretary of Defense with one job above all others: protect this country and the people who defend it. FPF is how I keep doing that job - making sure no American is ever lost to a threat we had the power to stop.”

The company plans to use the proceeds to scale its operations and advance the development and deployment of its core technologies. This includes:

• Accelerating development and production of the company’s Hammerhead interceptor and SmartFlak integrated launch system, designed to protect against cheap, mass-launched drones;
• Establishing U.S.-based manufacturing with an NDAA-compliant domestic supply chain;
• Expanding its engineering headcount across autonomy, systems integration, and propulsion; and
• Building out its West Palm Beach headquarters and operational infrastructure.
