Silicon Valley, CA (November 5, 2025) – Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that Susan Krumplitsch has joined the firm as a partner in the Patent Prosecution and Litigation practice group in Silicon Valley. Krumplitsch brings more than two decades of experience representing life sciences companies in high-stakes patent and trade secret disputes, strengthening Womble’s national IP litigation practice and expanding its West Coast life sciences presence.

Krumplitsch represents clients across biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors in patent and trade secret matters, regularly appearing in federal courts nationwide and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in post-grant review proceedings. Her practice spans cutting-edge technologies, including next-generation DNA sequencing, therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, transgenic animals, pharmaceutical formulations, small-molecule drug compounds, mammalian cell lines, biofuels, fungicides, and medical imaging.

“Susan’s track record in life sciences litigation and her insight into the evolving biotechnology and pharmaceutical landscape make her an outstanding addition to our team,” said Mary Bourke, leader of Womble’s IP Litigation team. “Her arrival enhances our ability to serve innovative clients in one of the most dynamic life sciences markets in the country.”

Preston Heard, co-leader of the firm’s Patent Prosecution and Litigation practice group, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Susan to our firm. Her background and litigation experience align perfectly with Womble’s vision to deepen our life sciences practice and deliver unmatched IP support to clients on the West Coast and nationwide.  Also, Susan has fantastic drive and an entrepreneurial spirit that make her a perfect cultural fit in our firm.”

In addition to her litigation practice, Krumplitsch counsels clients on patent strategy and frequently speaks and writes on emerging IP issues, including the intersection of artificial intelligence and life sciences innovation. She serves on the board of directors for Biocom, mentors through Women in Bio and ChIPs, and maintains a strong pro bono practice.

“I’m thrilled to join Womble and contribute to this practice that sits at the intersection of science, innovation, and law,” said Krumplitsch.

Krumplitsch earned her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, her M.S. from Harvard University School of Public Health, and her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
