Womble Partner Testifies Before Congress on Proposed Federal Data Privacy Law

WASHINGTON (June 4, 2026) – Womble Bond Dickinson’s Tyler R. Bridegan delivered testimony yesterday before the U.S. House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Committee during a hearing on the Securing and Establishing Consumer Uniform Rights and Enforcement Over Data Act (SECURE Data Act).
Before the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, Bridegan, a partner in Womble’s Privacy and Cybersecurity practice and the Digital Solutions team, offered testimony drawing on his experience as the former Director of Privacy and Technology Enforcement for the Texas Attorney General’s Office and his current role litigating and counseling companies on privacy laws. His testimony provided the Subcommittee with perspective on the legal landscape as it debated a federal consumer privacy law, including insights into current state privacy laws.
