Womble Expands Real Estate Practice with New Partner in Phoenix
Jun 09 2026
PHOENIX (June 9, 2026) – Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that Andrew X. Yocopis has joined the firm as a partner in its Real Estate practice, based in Phoenix. Yocopis brings extensive experience representing commercial real estate developers, institutional lenders, private equity groups, pension funds, and real estate investment trusts in acquisitions, financings, leasing, and dispositions across the Southwest.
Yocopis has particular depth in master-planned communities, multifamily and mixed-use developments, and industrial projects across Arizona and Colorado. He advises developers from site acquisition through entitlements, construction financing, and lease-up, and his portfolio includes some of the region's most significant development work. He also represents nationally chartered banks, life insurance companies, and pension fund lending groups in secured lending transactions and related workouts.
“Our clients increasingly need trusted real estate counsel who can move between development, finance, lending, and restructuring without missing a beat," said Real Estate Practice Group Co-Leader Sam Chang. "Andrew brings that versatility, and his deep roots in the Phoenix market make him a strong addition as we continue to grow the practice in the Southwest and beyond."
Beyond his development and lending work, Yocopis represents landlords and corporate tenants in headquarters and ground lease negotiations, and advises clients on the acquisition and disposition of commercial properties, including manufacturing facilities and raw land slated for planned communities. His client base extends to non-real estate companies with significant property needs, giving his practice a reach that spans well beyond traditional developer representation.
“Womble’s combination with Lewis Roca created something unique in this market—a firm with deep Southwest roots and a truly national platform,” said Yocopis. “For my clients, who need counsel that can operate across geographies and practice areas without losing that local expertise, that combination is genuinely powerful. Joining a firm that offers both was an easy decision.”
Yocopis earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Arizona State University. He joins Womble from Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP.
