DENVER (October 19, 2022) – Lewis Roca announced Eric Cheong has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in Denver.

Cheong, a registered patent attorney, focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting patent applications, for which he has more than 10 years of experience. Cheong also has experience developing innovative and tailored strategies to address clients’ business goals pertaining to patents and other intellectual property rights. He also provides counseling, analyses, and legal perspectives on patentability, infringement, validity, clearance, and due diligence. Cheong has assisted clients in various technology and industry fields, including telecommunications, electrical devices and systems, electronics, virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR)/mixed reality (MR), software, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, blockchain, wearable devices, medical devices, medical diagnostics, mechanical devices and systems, optics, microtechnology, nanotechnology, and semiconductor technologies. He has represented many clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has coordinated with foreign counsel in prosecuting patent applications for his clients before patent offices around the world.

Cheong received his J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and both his M.Sc. and B.Sc. from the University of Alberta. Prior to attending law school, he worked for four years at an intellectual property boutique firm based in Osaka, Japan, as a patent analyst handling patent prosecution matters.
