The Washington, DC office of Womble Bond Dickinson played host to the Association of Corporate Counsel National Capital Region for a collaborative presentation on how business leaders and their legal advisors should examine the opportunities and challenges Brexit presents.
Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP lawyers Malcom Dowden and Andrew Tingley and Eric Sidle from Cvent led the discussion. The trio provided an engaging dissection of both the legal and organizational challenges that Brexit presents to transatlantic businesses, including immigration aspects of Brexit, and some key areas of opportunity for those who adapt.
Brexit was scheduled to effect March 29, 2019 at 11pm. The date shifted to April 12, and then to October 31, or sooner if the UK government can secure ratification of its proposed Withdrawal Agreement. Ratification would create a transition period up to December 31, 2020. Business executives continue to prepare for life after Brexit even through the current uncertainty it presents.
