Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys Alan Enslen and John Scannapieco both spoke at the Association of Corporate Counsel National Capital Region Fall Conference, which took place Sept. 14 in Vienna, Va.
Their presentation addressed “Developing a “Get to Yes” Strategy for Your Investment Transaction”. Hewlett Packard Enterprise Vice President for Compliance & Global Trade Danielle Carter joined Enslen and Scannapieco in the discussion.
The United States remains the top foreign investment destination in the world. However, the evolution of economic security as a major component of national security, as well as the U.S. Government’s related emphasis over the past few years on securing critical technologies, critical infrastructure, and certain sensitive personal data, has created perceived obstacles to investing in U.S. companies from abroad.
This program examined some of those obstacles (particularly trade-related issues such as economic sanctions programs, global anti-corruption laws, foreign investment national security reviews, and export controls), highlight risk mitigation strategies that both protect parties and enable opportunities, and provide pragmatic techniques for successfully negotiating and closing a foreign investment transaction.
Womble Bond Dickinson was a sponsor of the 2022 ACC NCR Fall Conference.
