Description: The coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted virtually every aspect of doing business in South Carolina and throughout America. On April 30, Womble Bond Dickinson presented a conversation with US Sen. Lindsey Graham, US Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt and Medical University of South Carolina President Dr. David Cole on how the state and the nation are responding to this crisis, and what businesses can expect in the future.

The event was hosted by Womble Bond Dickinson attorney Stephanie Few, whose economic development practice focuses on South Carolina and the Southeast.

Stephanie and Sens. Graham and Scott discussed the current state of South Carolina’s economy, how COVID-19 has impacted the state’s business community, how the CARES Act is helping South Carolina companies weather this storm, and what additional steps federal lawmakers are discussing for the near future.

Then, Gov. McMaster and Secretary Hitt spoke on the state’s economic response to the COVID-19 crisis, and what South Carolina business leaders need to know to navigate this crisis.

Dr. Cole closed the session with a discussion of the public health challenges posed by COVID-19 and what South Carolinians can expect in the weeks and months to come.
