Womble Bond Dickinson continued the firm’s Navigating the Global Energy Transition Series with a November 14 event titled "Geopolitics, Elections, and the Energy Transition: Risks and Opportunities for the Energy Sector in 2025." This event provided a platform for energy industry officials to explore the upcoming challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the energy landscape.

Dan Haley, President and CEO of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, set the stage with his opening keynote. With his extensive experience and insights into the oil and gas sector, Haley addressed the evolving dynamics of the energy industry as it navigates through global geopolitical changes.

Then, the Honorable Mike Dunleavy, Governor of Alaska, provided the luncheon keynote address. Gov. Dunleavy shared his firsthand perspectives on how energy policies are shaping up in the context of broader political and economic shifts.

The event also featured a panel discussion on "Post Election Strategic Implications for the Energy and Natural Resources Industry." The panel brought together:

  • Mark Jones, Political Science Fellow at James A Baker III Institute for Public Policy and Faculty Director of the Master of Global Affairs Program at Rice University;
  • Liz Spencer, Senior Counsel at BPX Energy (Invited); and
  • Dane Chamorro, Head of Global Risk and Intelligence for Control Risks (Moderator).

Together, they provided a comprehensive analysis of how recent elections and geopolitical developments will impact strategic decision-making within the energy sector.

“Our goal was to organize a must-see series of events on the global energy transition, and I think this session will deliver,” said Jeffrey Whittle, Head of WBD’s Global Energy and Natural Resources practice. “With the Governor of a leading oil-producing state, the leader of a major energy sector advocacy group, and other industry insiders, I believe this event will provide invaluable insights into the energy transition for 2025 and beyond.”

WBD’s Navigating the Global Energy Transition Series "Geopolitics, Elections, and the Energy Transition: Risks and Opportunities for the Energy Sector in 2025” event took place at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston.
