Thomas focuses on commercial disputes both at the High Court and has acted in arbitrations under all of the major institutional rules, as well as ad hoc arbitrations primarily for insurers, reinsurers and financial institutions.  His cases generally involve complex jurisdictional issues.

In his career he has acted against the Syrian Government in English Commercial Court proceedings to enforce a US judgment, an ad hoc arbitration defending a multi-million Euro claim insurer against allegations of claims mishandling and High Court proceedings for a large financial services firm regarding allegations of misfeasance in the Caribbean.
