Oscar Au is an engineer with experience in planning and executing IP strategy including patent filing, licensing and IP protection. He has performed extensive research in wireless sensing (motion, presence, breathing, fall-down, daily-activity detection; locationing; AI, deep learning, foundation model) and has drafted and filed more than 100 patents, as an inventor in many cases.

Prior to joining the firm, Oscar served as Vice President for a high-tech wireless start-up company and has experience with patent filings related to wireless standards. He also spent more than two decades as a professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology where he did research in multimedia (video/image/audio/speech) signal processing, coding and standardization, statistical communication, optimization, and machine learning.

Oscar is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) and is a Board of Governor member of the Asia Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association (APSIPA). He has served an Associate Editor for more than 10 international journals and has also chaired several international conferences as well as served on the organizing committees of others.
