Marie Anne concentrates her practice on trademark prosecution and the representation of clients in opposition and cancellations actions and ex parte appeals before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has also represented clients in successful appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Marie Anne is experienced in trademark clearance and investigations, preparing cease and desist letters, drafting and negotiating coexistence agreements, and assignment of marks. Prior to private practice, Marie Anne was a Trademark Examining Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

- Represented the Tequila Regulatory Commission in the successful registration of TEQUILA as a certification mark
- Prevailed in opposition against the registration of mark composed of TEQU- prefix based on the likelihood of confusion with certification mark TEQUILA
- Prevailed in opposition proceeding against a small watch brand by arguing that famous brand failed to plead or prove that its use of slogan in advertising was analogous to trademark use; resulting in finding that the opposer did not establish trademark rights
- Represented a telecommunications company in successful opposition against a competitor’s attempt to register a trademark containing the word ENHANCED by showing that ENHANCED was highly descriptive and not registrable without a disclaimer
- Successfully represented clients in ex parte appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board on many issues, including specimens of use, descriptiveness refusals, scandalousness, and likelihood of confusion
