Kurt S. Prange

Kurt Prange is an intellectual property (IP) lawyer whose practice focuses on patents and trademarks. Kurt has developed experience in patent and trademark prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) by interviewing inventors and trademark owners, drafting new applications, and submitting persuasive arguments and carefully crafted amendments to obtain valuable patent and trademark rights for his clients. Kurt also assists with litigation research. Kurt has helped global corporations, small startups, and individuals increase and protect their IP assets in fields such as electronics, computers and software, musical instruments, and medical devices.

While attending the University of Colorado Law School, Kurt served as an extern at the Rocky Mountain Regional USPTO, where he examined patent applications (in the fields of semiconductors, electrophotography, and business methods) and drafted Office actions with the advice and supervision of patent examiners. Kurt served as a member of the Colorado Technology Law Journal, where his article on “Blockchain and Business Methods” was selected for publication. Kurt also served as a student lawyer for the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, where he drafted contracts for startup clients.

Prior to attending law school, Kurt worked with embedded systems as an electrical engineer in the rail transit industry and, later, with analog circuits as a sales engineer in the musical instrument industry.

Kurt takes his time to understand his clients' products and services, inventions, and business objectives to offer tailored solutions. He is at his best when helping entrepreneurs define their innovations and creative contributions to the evolving landscape of commerce and technology. Outside of the office, Kurt enjoys long-distance running, making music, exploring the California Coast, and practicing yoga.
