Carol is the “go-to” person for many multinationals on U.S. legal matters related to internal investigations, government investigations, and commercial litigations. She regularly represents clients before key U.S. agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the Department of Commerce, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Department of the Treasury, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). She has a proven track record of defending clients in matters involving sensitive corporate governance and regulatory issues.

Carol is recognized in the legal community for her vast experience in cross-border litigation and investigation issues, as well as her in-depth understanding of the nuances of conflicts of law and their implications in practice. She is battle-tested in all stages of government investigations and high-stakes commercial litigations. She is highly experienced in handling sensitive documents in cross-border matters, including guiding a China-based company through a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation stemming from patent litigation, where she adeptly managed discovery disputes to safeguard her client’s interests.

Carol’s expertise spans U.S. export controls, economic sanctions, Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reviews, anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) regulations, data security, forced labor, consumer protection, and intellectual property disputes. She excels in resolving complex regulatory challenges for companies operating across diverse industries, from financial services and technology to manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. Her ability to coordinate and integrate multidisciplinary resources—working closely with government regulatory and enforcement teams—enables her to craft comprehensive, tailored strategies that address broader business concerns while limiting the scope of discovery in litigation and investigations.

Carol is also familiar with U.S. regulatory issues in cross-border transactions, having assisted with due diligence and remediation in numerous initial public offerings (IPOs) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
