Sam joined the Agriculture, Farms and Estates team in February 2026.
Sam advises landed estates, institutional lenders, companies, charities, trusts, partnerships and individuals in relation to all aspects of rural property law, including:
- Acquisitions and disposals of farms, agricultural land, estates, development sites and other rural property including unregistered conveyancing, the sale and acquisition of rural property by way of public auction, and drafting complex contracts and transfers dealing with delinked payments, environmental schemes, easements, and restrictive and positive covenants (including positive overage covenants).
- Overage agreements.
- Agricultural tenancies and leases, sporting leases and licenses and commercial leases.
- Financing and re-financing rural property.
- Easements, covenants, profits à prendre and rights of common.
- First registrations of rural land, profits à prendre and other proprietary interests capable of registration including rectification of legal titles, voluntary registrations, applications for first registration where deeds have been lost, applications based on adverse possession, and applications based on prescription.
- Share farming agreements.
Sam is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and is involved with its work in the North West and North East of England.
